Ultrasonography (Ultrasound)
Ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to create a real-time image of your pet’s internal organs. It can also show blood flowing through blood vessels. Ultrasound imaging can be performed using minimal restraint or light sedation if needed. There are no long-term health risks associated with exposure to ultrasound.
Ultrasonography can also be used to evaluate cardiac function, and determine pregnancy, image the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, spleen, and pancreas. We can also use ultrasonography to help perform diagnosis, evaluate cardiac function and examine the eyes.
Our doctors work closely with Upstate Vet Emergency & Specialty Care to offer mobile abdominal ultrasound and echocardiograms in our hospital.
