Dr. Madelynn Garrelts grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia, surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses. She received her veterinary education from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, following an undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where she gained hands-on experience working with dairy cattle. Inspired by her love for animals and interest in the medical field, Dr. Garrelts knew that becoming a veterinarian would combine her passions in the best way.
Before relocating to South Carolina, Dr. Garrelts worked as an emergency veterinarian in Georgia and earned the UGA CVM award for Proficiency in Emergency and Critical Care. While she still enjoys emergency cases, her interests have expanded to include soft tissue surgery, dental care, and geriatric animal care. She values the strong, long-term relationships that general practice offers and looks forward to fostering these connections with clients at Cleveland Park Animal Hospital.
Dr. Garrelts has since settled in Greenville with her husband, Owen, and their pushy but friendly chocolate lab, Lucy. Outside of work, she enjoys walking and hiking with her pup, Lucy. Trying new restaurants in the area, decorating her home, reading, and traveling whenever possible. She is also the proud mom of her adorable son, Tyler.
Dr. Garrelts is known for her deep dedication to her patients and clients. Our clients appreciate the strong, personal connections they build with her, and her gigantic heart makes her a truly exceptional part of the Cleveland Park family.
